INTEGRATED BUSINESS ANALYTICS PLATFORMS IN DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF UNIVERSITIES

Abstract

This article explores the role of integrated business intelligence (business intelligence – BI) platforms in the digital transformation of universities. BI platforms are presented as comprehensive solutions that enable data collection, processing, visualization, and support for managerial decision–making. The study examines key BI methods, including descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, and their application in the educational sector to enhance management efficiency, improve the learning process, and support strategic planning. The article highlights successful case studies of BI implementation in leading global universities, including Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Technical University of Munich. These cases demonstrate how BI tools optimize resources, monitor student performance, and forecast their needs. Specific advantages of BI platforms are discussed, such as their ability to integrate with existing systems, adaptability, robust data visualization capabilities, and automation of reporting processes. The study identifies critical challenges in the implementation of BI, such as technological barriers, organizational resistance to change, financial constraints, and ethical concerns, particularly data privacy issues. To address these challenges, the article provides recommendations, including ensuring high–quality data, training staff to use analytical tools, and adapting university strategies based on analytical insights. Additionally, the article outlines a phased approach to implementing BI systems, which includes assessing university needs, designing the system architecture, integrating data from diverse sources, developing dashboards, conducting staff training, and testing the system before full–scale deployment. Each phase is described in detail, with an emphasis on aligning BI system capabilities with institutional goals and requirements. The implementation of BI platforms is positioned as a crucial step for universities aiming to thrive in the digital age. These platforms enhance decision–making transparency, automate processes, and integrate analytics into university management strategies. The article argues that BI platforms contribute significantly to the sustainable development of academic institutions, improving resource management, educational quality, and competitiveness. By leveraging BI tools effectively, universities can address pressing challenges, such as rising competition, shifting student expectations, and the need for operational optimization. The article concludes that a well–planned BI integration strategy can transform universities into agile, data–driven organizations capable of responding proactively to the demands of the modern educational landscape.
