Abstract

The article examines the origins of the concept of sustainable innovation, which belongs to the well-known concept of sustainable development. The opinions of various authors regarding the commonality of the concept of sustainable development and the concept of sustainable innovation have been studied. The applied basis of the concept of sustainable innovation is considered. A systemically integrated approach to the innovative development of enterprises is proposed, which differs from the traditional innovation-oriented one, based on the concept of sustainable innovation. This work substantiates the advantages of the concept of sustainable innovation for enterprises in the context of external and internal economic challenges. The article develops a toolkit, which is appropriate to use in accordance with the target tasks set at a certain stage of the development of enterprises, and considers the «road map» of the concept of sustainable innovation, according to which the enterprise can systematize innovation processes at the enterprise on the way to ensuring economic sustainability. The main scenarios of the road map are considered: operational optimization, organizational transformation and system reformation. Concise recommendations are provided for each scenario of the «road map», recommendations for methods that can be applied in the course of implementing the model at the enterprise. The article examines and supplements the model of sustainable innovation. The model was supplemented by the authors from the point of view of innovation management. Accordingly, the article provided recommendations on the feasibility of implementing specific types of innovations at each stage of the «road map» of sustainable innovations and its model. The developed recommendations answer the question of what type of innovation should be shifted to the focus of attention if the methodology of the concept of sustainable innovation is applied at the enterprise. The article points out the lack of an applied apparatus of the concept of sustainable innovation and indicates directions for further research that can contribute to the further development of the concept.
